How is this different from traditional liposuction?
Micro-Body Contouring is an artistic body sculpting and fat removal technique that employs new technology such as the Body-Jet® and lasers which are less invasive and gentler to the tissues compared to traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction methods utilize sharp instruments, force and aggressive suctioning to tear the fat from connective tissue. This typically requires general anesthesia, and patients can experience significant bruising, swelling, and post-operative pain. Recovery is slow and can take 1-2 weeks before returning to normal activity. However, with the laser and the Body-Jet®, we can perform virtually pain-free, micro-body contouring under local anesthesia while you are completely awake. These new, cutting edge technologies are less traumatic to the tissue so there is less bleeding, minimal bruising, and little-to-no downtime. Patients typically return to normal activities in a few days.

How the technology works
The Body-Jet® gently dislodges fat cells from surrounding connective tissue using pulses of water and anesthetic fluid. As the water spray dislodges the unwanted fat, it is gently suctioned from the area in one continuous process, as depicted below.

With this constant exchange of fluid, the doctor is better able to see the new contour as they create it. The patient can also see and comment on the changes since they are awake during the procedure. The result is less fluid in the body at any given time than with traditional liposuction, making it possible to see the end result when the procedure is completed. Immediate results are one of the most exciting benefits experienced by our patients. Additionally, because the mechanism of action of the Body-Jet is so gentle, the majority of fat cells removed are healthy and viable and can be transferred to another area of the body – we call this natural fat transfer.
